Mary Francis Dixon Filyaw
Mary Francis Dixon Filyaw, 77, of Sweetwater, TN died at her home on Saturday, July 24, 2010 after battling leukemia for over a year. A native and lifelong resident of Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Dixon, Sr. and Lois Cavette Dixon. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Tabernacle in Sweetwater, and was also preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, James Winfred Filyaw. She had been employed at the Carolyn Chennille Plant in Sweetwater and also Westinghouse in Athens for several years before her retirement. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis and Linda Filyaw, of Riceville, TN, Eddie and Peggy Filyaw, of Knoxville, TN, Allen and Sheila Filyaw, of Smyrna, TN, granddaughters and spouses are: Trisha and Jared McCosh, Melissa and Joe King, of Riceville, Allison and Jake Pinkston, of Knoxville, grandsons and spouses are: Andrew and Kelly Filyaw, of Knoxville, Chris and Nicole Filyaw, of Smyrna. Grandsons: Aaron Filyaw, of Knoxville, Brian Filyaw, of Smyrna. Granddaughter: Hannah Filyaw, of Riceville, Great-grandchildren: Breaden and Elizabeth King, Owen and Sadie McCosh all of Riceville, Lee, Sam, Meg, and Jack Pinkston of Knoxville, Emily and Alyssa Filyaw and Landon Filyaw, all of Smyrna. Sister and brother-in-law: Josephine and Kenneth Hughes, sister: Grace Waymier, brother and sister-in-law: Elmer and Juil Dixon, Sr. all of Sweetwater. Several Nieces and Nephews. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends on Monday July 26, 2010, from 1:00P.M. until 2:00P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00P.M. in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Johnny Carr officiating. Interment to follow in the Sweetwater Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andrew Filyaw, Aaron Filyaw, Chris Filyaw, Jake Pinkston, Joe King, and Jared McCosh. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Building Fund.
