Johnny M. Thomas

Johnny M. Thomas, age 58, of Sweetwater, departed this life on Tuesday February 23, 2010, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. He was a past commander of the Sweetwater V.F.W. Gold Star Post 5156 and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Evelyn Thomas and sisters: Diane Trentham, Barbara Beck and Brenda Thomas and brother-in-law: Allen Gray. Survivors include his loving wife: Tammy Thomas, Sweetwater son John Thomas, and grandson: Jalen Thomas, both of Madisonville, sisters and brother-in-law: Susan and John Pinkard, of Madison FL., Deborah Gray, brother: Stanley Thomas, both of Madisonville. Father and mother-in-law: Ronnie and Carolyn Purdy Rocky Face, GA, several nieces and nephews, many special friends of the Sweetwater V.F.W. Gold Star Post 5156 and Ladies Auxiliary. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends on Thursday February 25, 2010 from 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 8:00P.M. in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Clinton Riddle, and Tennessee V.F.W. Senior Vice Commander Ken Miller officiating. Interment 2:00P.M. Friday in the Big Toqua Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Sweetwater V.F.W. Gold Star Post 5156 and Members of the Monroe County Disabled American Veterans chapter 93. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cancer Aid & Research at any Monroe County FSG Bank location in memory of Johnny M. Thomas.
