Violet D. Mozur

Violet D.Mozur, age 89 of Sweetwater,Tennessee passed away on Sunday January 24, 2010 in a nursing care facility in Nashville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Tony Mozur and sons Tommy Mozur and Clark Mozur and brother Joe Chepulis. Violet was a loving and caring Mom who believed that if you could not say anything good about a person, it would be better not say anything at all. She always had good things to say about all people. Raised a Catholic in Plymouth Pennsylvania, Mom was a very religious person who participated in church socials and fundrasing events for St. Mary's Catholic Church in Athens, Tennessee. Violet and Tony Mozur were instrumental in establishing the first catholic church in Athens. Mom was a homemaker who always believed in gathering the family for dinner every day of every year. She believed in going to all her sibling sports and school events. Because of her video camera, we always had recorded memories of our family that we could laugh and enjoy at Christmas dinner. Those recorded memories is how mom will be remembered. Mom loved to play golf at Springbrook Country Club with all of her lady friends on Tuesday of every month of every year. Mom's faith in God and family was her biggest asset and she will be truly missed. Survivors include her sisters Jenny Humphreys, Dorthy Stencavage, and Anne Chepulis. Family include Nancy,Bryan,Tommy and Tim Moore, Jimmy Mozur, Jonathan Correia, Thomas Mozur,Kimberly,Sloan, Keely and Chris Hagerty.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday January 27, 2010 at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater between 1:00pm and 3:00 pm followed by a graveside service at Sweetwater Memorial Park on highway US 11 with Rev. William Oruko officiating. Flowers and donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Athens Tennessee. www.kykerfuneralhome.com

I am so sorry to hear of Vi's passing. I remember her very well. Mom(Jeanine) and Vi really had a good time at St. Mary's with all the social events that they both participated in. For the both of them their church and church family was very impotant to them and now they are rejoicing in Heaven. Your family will be in my prayers.

Nancy, It just seems like yesterday when all of us were sitting in church. Time sure does fly. Your Mom was always so sweet to my Mom"Jeanine" and all of us girls. I think it was about a 1  year ago when Mom asked me to take something to Vi. That was the first time that I had been in her new house. She was very gracious to me. I'm sure Mom is rejoicing now with another one of her friends at her side. Nancy, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in knowing that your Mom is celebrating with your Dad and other family members in heaven.

Dear Mozur family!

We LOVED your mom dearly!  We consider her (and you all) family and never traveled to Sweetwater without "visiting" with her on a daily basis while we were there..sometimes twice a day---"coffee" and "happy hour"!  She had wonderful stories to tell about all of you growing up and life in Sweetwater, Tennessee.  Our memories of Vi will be cherished and we send our heartfelt condolences and prayers your way---

Vi was the one who had first welcomed our family to St. Mary Catholic Church and to Sweetwater when we first moved to TN 36-years ago.  We will always remember how tirelessly she and Tony had worked to keep our church active and strong.  She was an exceptional lady, who always showed concern for everyone and was loved by us all.  We will really miss her.  Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to hear of you mother's death after the funeral had occurred.  She was a lovely and kind lady with a beautiful smile and always a kind countenance. Vi and Tony and my family were the only Catholics in Sweetwater and we knew each other well. I remember the start of our new St.Mary's Church in Athens and how glad we were to be able to travel a shorter distance to Mass.

She and Tony were my son's Godparents and I have photos of the three of them. I always felt so comfortable iaround Vi because she had that special personality that people are drawn to.

She will be missed but remembered lovingly!

My condolances to the family.

Lydia McCrary

With Heartfelt Sympathy to the family,

May you find comfort in God's word and in the knowledge that others sympathize with you in your loss. Since this may be one of the hardest things we will ever have to cope with, the Bible offers hope. Pointing to a glorious time, Isaiah 25:8 says, "God will swallow up death forever and Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces..." Please read John 5:28,29. It has helped many bereaved persons and myself. I pray it does the same for you.
